Original Story:

The Nike Kobe 8 Protro “Mambacurial” is returning in 2026, bringing back the same bright soccer-inspired look that first landed on the Kobe 8 in 2013.

That original pair borrowed from Nike’s Mercurial Vapor football boot, which made sense given Kobe Bryant’s long interest in soccer and gave the colorway a look that stood apart from the rest of the line.

Pink fades into purple across the upper, while Volt shows up on the Swoosh, outsole, and heel. Large NIKE lettering runs along the lateral side, and Kobe’s logo is still visible through the translucent forefoot.

The 2026 pair stays close to the original instead of changing the look too much. The mesh upper and low-cut shape are still there, while the Protro setup updates the performance side of the shoe.

The “Mambacurial” has held up well because there really is not much else in the Kobe line that looks like it. The gradient, oversized branding, and football-inspired details still make the pair easy to spot more than a decade later.
